PositionBook

PositionBook was designed and built by experienced commodity traders to fill a significant void in the commodity/risk management software market. As traders, we were searching for a user-friendly package that would allow us to enter any combination of positions (actual or hypothetical) and quickly examine the risk/return tradeoffs associated with those positions. PositionBook fills this void by allowing the user to enter any number of futures, options and cash positions and analyze them either as individual strategies or as an entire book. This gives the user the ability to take a number of individual positions and quickly quantify their net exposure to changes in commodity prices, implied volatility, time and other factors.

PositionBook has a built-in "auto-link" feature that allows the user to easily link positions to real-time futures and options quotes from Reuters, CQG, Bridge Station and ProphetX. This allows for real-time updating of prices, P&L’s, implied volatilities and other option pricing parameters such as delta, gamma, theta and Vega. PositionBook presents these powerful analytical tools in an intuitive and user-friendly fashion.

Position Entry - Options
Positions can be entered either manually, or using the position entry wizard.

Position Entry – Futures
This module allows for the entry of futures positons.

Option Greeks
PositionBook presents the option "Greeks" in a user-friendly and intuitive fashion. For example, time decay is measured in dollars per day.

Comparison of Alternative Strategies
PositionBook allows you to compare alternative strategies – for example this screen compares the characteristics of a long call, collar and vertical call spread for corn.

Scenario or "What if" Analysis
PositionBook allows for a wide range of scenario analyses. For example, you can over-ride parameters such as the underlying futures price to determine the impact on your P&L. You do this by comparing the actual P&L to the "with over-ride" P&L.

Charting Features
You can chart either your entire position, or individual components. The charting features include P&L vs. Price, P&L vs. Implied Volatility, Delta vs. Price and Theta vs. Price. Shown below is the chart for P/L vs. Price.
